How It All Got Started....

In 2001 a few veteran members of the Bay State Triathlon Team were sitting around giving critiques on various triathlons in New England and elsewhere.  Someone (who shall remain nameless) suggested the team could hold a race that would include all the factors that we thought went into making a terrific triathlon and eliminate all the negatives that we had experienced throughout the years.

What started as a team sponsored event in 2001 has become one of the most enjoyable Intermediate Distance triathlons in New England.  This year, the 7th edition, looks to build on this reputation with a scenic course, legions of support, close attention to the details of safety, and a great post-race barbecue, all centered on the triathlete.

The Cranberry Country Triathlon, while still supported by the Bay State Triathlon, is now managed by Sun Multisport Events.  Sun Multisport Events is a multisport event management company based in eastern Massachusetts. Our mission is to create events for the multisport athlete that are high in quality and deliver an all around valuable experience. We recognize that our events would not be possible without the support of our volunteers and sponsors and strive to deliver to them an equally valuable event day experience. We are triathletes with a passion for the sport who look to share our enthusiasm with the entire triathlon community in an effort to contunue to see the sport grow and prosper.

We are also committed to creating environmentally friendly events and to that end began work with Athletes for a Fit Planet in 2008. Together with Athletes for a Fit Planet we are working on a 3 year plan that will ensure our events will become increasingly more sustainable.

In addition to organizing the Cranberry Country Triathlon, Sun Multisport Events also puts on Multisport World Conference and Expo, one of the largest gatherings of the region's tri communnity (1,700+ attendees) and the Patriot Triathlon, Massachusetts' premier half iron distance triathlon.
