Join us for the 7th annual Cranberry Country Triathlon!
*********************************************** 2 0 0 8 R A C E R E S U L T S *********************************************** The seventh annual Cranberry Country Triathlon will be held Sunday, August 24, 2008. This is an Olympic Distance race (0.8 mile swim/24.9 mile bike/6.2 mile run) through the beautiful cranberry bogs and country roads of Lakeville, Massachusetts. This year's Cranberry Country Triathlon has been selected as the USAT Northeast Region's Club Championship and is based at the Ted Williams Camp on Rte. 18 in Lakeville, less than an hour from Boston. The swim goes around Loon Pond, the bike takes you over scenic roads and the run includes shady sections and plenty of water stations. For complete information on the race go to the Race Details page of this site. The Cranberry Country Triathlon has also been selected by Team Psycho as one of the events in its 2008 Elite Development Program (EDP). The EDP was founded in 2003 with the goal of creating a development program to assist athletes in attaining the highest level of success in short course (ITU) triathlon. After five seasons, the EDP will put one athlete on the US Olympic Triathlon Team (Jarrod Shoemaker, 2008). As an event in the EDP program, Team Psycho has contributed $1,000 in prize money to the 2008 Cranberry Country Triathlon to be awarded to the top 3 finishing males and females that race in the "Open" category (distribution: $250-$150-$100). Sun Multisport Events, the organizers of the Cranberry, have made a commitment to implement more environmentally responsible practices at this year's event. To that end, we have partnered with Athletes for a Fit Planet and will be introducing a more comprehensive recycling system, the use of eco-friendly port-o-potties and the use of plates and utencils for our post-race BBQ that are made of bio-degradable products. This is just a start... creating more sustainable events is our long term goal.
The Cranberry Country Triathlon promises you a safe and scenic race. If you've got kids its a great venue for bringing them... when the rest of the family isn't cheering on Mom or Dad, they can enjoy the playground, toss a ball or frisbee around on the baseball fields, or practice their "ollie" at the skateboard park. Find this and more at the Ted Williams camp. And after the race there's a fabulous barbecue, plus a DJ and live music... its a truly festive atmosphere.
